From the designer: For Louisiana, I was heavily inspired by the French history of the state, and the badge features a stylized tiger, with a fleur-de-lis, a symbol of this French heritage, as well as the old state capital building. The colors I chose were yellow, purple, and green, the colors of mardi-gras, a celebration which the state is famous for. The shirt itself features tiger stripes, a sublimated fleur-de-lis pattern, and a roundel on the right chest lifted from the design on New Orleans' sewer grates. The sleeve cuffs and waist of the shirt also feature a striping pattern inspired by mardi-gras beads. I also tried to incorporate as much of the French language as possible throughout the shirt, as the prevalence of creole French is one of the most unique attributes of Louisiana, both in the South and in the US on the whole.
McCabe Quast is a graphic design student currently in his junior year at the University of Kansas. McCabe has been captivated by design, particularly where it intersects with sports since a young age. He credits websites like Chris Creamer’s Sports Logos and Uniwatch for stoking his interest and hopes to go on to a career in sports design and branding. Though a student, McCabe tries to take on as much freelance work as possible and is always looking to grow his skills.
