Dave Johnson has been the voice of D.C. United since Major League Soccer’s inception in 1996. As a child, Johnson would do play-by-play of imaginary games to boost the spirits of his mother, who was living with Multiple Sclerosis. Johnson’s mother passed away due to complications with MS when he was a teenager and he was diagnosed with MS in 2019. In partnership with the National MS Society and with the support of the DC area community, Dave is determined to continue doing the work that he loves, and to raise funds and awareness to find a cure for MS.
Please join us in supporting Johnson by purchasing an “It’s In the Net” jersey, Johnson’s famous call for when D.C. United scores. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase will be donated to the National MS Society and will count towards Dave Johnson’s fundraising efforts for Bike MS: Nation’s Capital, a fundraising bike ride taking place on Sunday, September 11th in Reston, VA. Johnson has a $30,000 fundraising goal and will likely be the #1 fundraiser of the ride if we can help him reach this goal.
MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms vary from person to person and range from numbness and tingling to mobility challenges, blindness, and paralysis. An estimated one million people in the United States live with MS. The National MS Society funds cutting-edge research towards a cure, drives change through advocacy, and provides services to help people affected by MS live their best lives.
Fans have an opportunity to support Dave's fundraising efforts and snag some limited edition It's In The Net memorabilia. $20 from each purchase goes straight to his fundraising goal. With the design skills of @Vdgraph we were able to bring this to life.
